Fine and very digestible, rouroute starch ( Maranta arundinacea L. ) is known in Reunion Island for its qualities in cooking and it is also used for the preparation of homemade cosmetics.
Rouroute has softening and anti-inflammatory properties and is known for its effectiveness against heartburn and diarrhea.
Our rouroute is grown and prepared in Reunion.
Known properties:
Anti-inflammatory
Relieves heartburn and helps with digestive problems.
Anti-vomiting
Rouroute can be used in case of nausea.
Anti irritation
Can be applied as a vegetable talc to relieve eczema and skin irritations.
Examples of uses:
Internal use
- 2 tablespoons of rouroute diluted in a liter of water, to drink throughout the day for its anti-diarrheal, anti-emetic and against digestive problems properties.
- A tablespoon of rouroute powder diluted in 250ml of cold lemon balm infusion (or cold water) then brought to the boil to thicken everything allows you to make a gastric dressing.
External use
- On inflammations, irritations, eczema and mycoses, rouroute can be applied like talc.
- In home cosmetics, rouroute is often used as a base for making blush, shadow or eye shadow for its mattifying effect and silky feel.

Keep out of reach of children.
Rouroute is a powdery product; do not use near a ventilation source.
